We are pleased to announce the opening of a new scholarship at the Shiawassee Community Foundation: the Brittany Buchholz Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Brittany was a bright young woman whose contagious love for life and others was tragically cut short by cancer at age 23. She was a dedicated student, passionate dancer, baker, and animal lover. She enjoyed spending time with friends, participating in color guard, and volunteering at Humane Societies. Brittany graduated at the top of her class at Corunna High School. She was Valedictorian for the class of 2012 before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hope College. Brittany was employed with Memorial Healthcare as a Patient Care Tech.
This scholarship is available to Shiawassee County area graduates with a high grade point average. Applicants should demonstrate overall good citizenship and involvement in community service or volunteer work. Financial need will be considered. Preference will be given to students who:
- Plan to study in the medical, education, or child development fields
- Have 4-H involvement
- Plan to attend Hope College
- Are active in band, cheer, and/or dance
